CLEWISTON – The Clewiston Sugar Festival events kicked off Wednesday, March 15, with the 2017 Honoree Breakfast recognizing U.S. Sugar and The People of U.S. Sugar.

“For 85 years, U.S. Sugar has walked hand in hand with the people of Clewiston and Hendry County,” said Clewiston Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Hillary Hyslope. The people of U.S. Sugar really are the heart and soul of our community and of this festival.”

U.S. Sugar President Bob Buker, members of the company’s executive team, and dozens of employees who have been with the company for more than 40 years were all honored at the event. The long-time employees represented the more than 2,500 people of U.S. Sugar.

The Sugar Festival Committee presented a plaque to U.S. Sugar in recognition of their contributions to the festival and the community. The breakfast was sponsored by Seacoast Bank.
