After the Clewiston Police Department raised concerns over the safety of passengers and other drivers, GoodWheels rerouted its Clewiston services to take stops off of Highway 27.
A small section of GoodWheels’ route through Clewiston was rerouted to avoid the busy highway and moved to residential roads, including Ventura Avenue.
GoodWheels responded quickly to safety concerns raised by the local police department and county commissioners, making the move over the July Fourth weekend. Safety and Driver Trainer for GoodWheels, Ted Walker, said the move was made so quickly the company didn’t have time to notify its clients before the new routes were put in place.
Walker said, however, that when it comes to safety, GoodWheels has no problem making the changes. He also said the new routes are not only safer but often more convenient for clients.
