Library closes out summer with party

CLEWISTON — Natasha Hayes, director of the Clewiston Public Library and Hendry County Library Cooperative, reports that she and library staff had their End of Summer Program on Thursday, July 26.

They invited all the patrons who participated in the Libraries Rock program, ABC Mouse and Lexia program, as well as their Summer Reading Challenge. The Friends of the Clewiston Library provided gift cards for those students who won the reading challenge as well as the pizza, chips and drinks enjoyed by all.

Children who have been involved in the summer programs at the Clewiston Public Library gathered last week to play games and enjoy activities during an end-of-season pizza party.

Said Ms. Hayes, “We were also extremely grateful for the donation from U.S. Sugar for the 60 backpacks and supplies that they provided to those patrons who participated this summer. We would like to say ‘Thank You’ to U.S. Sugar for their donation!

She also reported: “Family Day was a hit again on Wednesday, with events such as coloring, watching a movie and enjoying popcorn as a family here in the children’s area. The patrons are truly enjoying the new popcorn machine.”

Ms. Hayes wanted to remind patrons that they can get e-books free at www.hendrylibraries.org.
