Drug Free Hendry County to hold Operation Medicine Cabinet

CLEWISTON — Drug Free Hendry County will hold their annual Operation Medicine Cabinet event on Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at K&M Drugs, 340 E. Sugarland Hwy. in Clewiston (near First Bank).

Seventy percent of people 12 and older who abuse prescription drugs get them from family or friends.

A prescription for safe kids and a clean environment:
• Take unused or expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medication to the Clewiston location.
• Lock up all medications and keep from children.
• Don’t flush medication down the toilet – it is a danger to our environment.
• Don’t take needles or other “sharps” – they cannot be accepted.

The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, 101 S Bridge St. in LaBelle, has a permanent medicine drop for unused and expired medicine. Medicine can be brought in plastic bags with no names.
