Farm assistance program meeting Aug. 23

LABELLE — The Farm Service Agency will have a 2017 Wildfires and Hurricanes Indemnity Program informational meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. today, Aug. 23, at the Hendry County Extension Office, 1085 Pratt Blvd. in LaBelle. This meeting is for vegetable growers and others. The new 2017 Wildfires and Hurricanes Indemnity Program provides disaster payments to producers to offset losses from hurricanes and wildfires during 2017 — particularly losses of crops, trees, bushes and vines. Agricultural producers affected by hurricanes and wildfires in 2017 now may apply for assistance to help recover and rebuild their farming operations. Sign-up began in July and continues through Nov. 16. You must sign up by making an appointment at your local Farm Service Agency office. Contact the Hendry extension office at 863-674-4092 for more information.
