Please be advised that the June 19 meeting has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for another date. The Florida Department of Transportation will provide details in the near future.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is holding a public information meeting regarding the design plans to widen SR 29 from SR 82 to the Hendry County Line in Collier County.
The public information meeting is on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the UF/IFAS Southwest Florida Research and Education Center, 2685 SR 29 North, Immokalee, FL 34142.
The proposed improvements include widening the existing two-lane undivided rural roadway to a four-lane divided rural roadway. The existing right of way width is 200 feet and additional right of way will be acquired from the west side. The proposed typical section is a pavement saving rural section with two newly constructed 12-foot (future southbound) travel lanes, two existing 12foot (future northbound) travel lanes, a 40-foot grassed median, six-foot inside shoulders, eightfoot outside shoulders (five-foot paved) and ditches on both sides of the roadway to convey stormwater to both linear and offsite ponds. The expansion of SR 29 to four lanes is anticipated to improve traffic circulation, enhance safety, emergency access, and truck access within Collier County.
The meeting is an open house format from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., during which staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. There will be an informal presentation at 6 p.m. The
purpose of the meeting is to present information and to obtain comments about the proposed widening plans for this segment of SR 29. You can attend anytime during the open house to review project information and talk one-on-one with the design team.
