SR 80 from Grandma’s Boulevard to Huggetts Road: Construction project: Crews will repave one half of a mile on both the eastbound and westbound lanes of SR 80 from Grandma’s Boulevard to Huggetts Road in LaBelle starting on Monday, May 15. Work will also include widening the shoulder to accommodate new bicycle lanes by adding a five foot bicycle keyhole in the westbound right turn lane. Additional improvements include installing guardrails, pavement markings, enhancing signage and signalization. Pedestrians should use caution in this area during construction. Please be aware of crews working close to the roadway. Estimated project completion is fall 2017. The contractor is Community Asphalt Corporation.
SR 80 from Dalton Lane to CR 833: Construction project: Crews will widen approximately 11 miles of roadway from two to four lanes and add new turning lanes. Additional work includes repaving the current lanes of SR 80 and constructing ten new bridges. Three of the bridges will require full demolition and removal of the existing bridges in order to construct the new ones. Work also includes drainage improvements, adding curb and gutter, and installing LED lighting.
Motorists should expect a daytime rolling lane closure to allow for temporary striping to the road.
Estimated project completion is summer 2020. The contractor is AJAX Paving Industries of Florida.
