CLEWISTON — On Saturday, March 24, the Hendry Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation hosted the 2018 Social Celebration at the majestic Hilliard Log Cabin. It was another record-breaking gathering, raising over $120,000 to support the mission and goals of HRMC. Over 200 people attended this major fundraiser, which included silent and live auctions. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Marlin Hilliard graciously hosted the event for the 11th year in a row at their gorgeous Log Cabin. Guests had the opportunity to mingle with friends while enjoying cocktails and delicious hors d’oeuvres followed by a gourmet buffet and desserts. The evening began with attendees bidding on over 100 silent auction items generously donated by local businesses. A new raffle item this year was “Bubbles n’ Bling”; guests purchased a monogramed champagne flute, with one lucky winner having a half-carat Moissanite diamond attached. This new raffle was made possible by Bello’s Jewelry & Gifts, Denise Hatton and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Nisbet.
The highlight of the evening was the live auction, where attendees were able to bid high and bid often! This year, the foundation board took on a special fundraising opportunity to expand services available at Hendry Regional by offering breast MRIs. The final live auction item of the evening was a “call to the heart” to raise the money needed to provide this vital service.
All attendees were asked to consider giving any amount to help fund the new breast MRI software. “There was a tremendous and humbling response from our attendees as we were able raise the $30,000 needed for this vital new service in just 5 minutes,” said Tuesday Tritt, HRMC Foundation board chairwoman. In addition to the new breast MRI software, the foundation’s annual fundraising goal is to support the purchase of a new ultrasound machine. Ultrasound imaging is a key diagnostic tool utilized daily in the treatment and care of patients and allows HRMC to offer minimally invasive imaging services. “We are so grateful for the continued support of our local community members and generous donors who give unconditionally to support the efforts of the HRMC Foundation,” said Electa Waddell, executive director.
The HRMC Foundation was created to solicit financial contributions from the community for the continued improvement of quality healthcare. Since its inception in 2005, the foundation has provided over $4 million to Hendry Regional Medical Center to support its mission “to excel in quality, compassion and innovation to make our community healthier.”
