Rotary Club hears Clewiston commission candidates

CLEWISTON — The Clewiston Rotary Club hosted the seven candidates for City Commission, who are competing for three open seats this fall, during its luncheon Monday, Aug. 20. Three incumbent commissioners whose terms end with the 2018 general election filed for re-election: Mali Soto Gardner, Kristine Petersen and Phillip Roland.

Their challengers are four other candidates: Kevin McCarthy, Melanie McGahee, Jimmy Pittman and Lance “Bubba” Ramer.

Each candidate presented himself or herself before the Rotary Club with a five-minute speech giving their background and relationship to the city.

Commissioner Kristine Petersen could not attend due to her commitment to students in Clewiston High School’s E911 program.

Mark your calendars for Election Day on Nov. 6!
