Unemployment continues downward trend

Hendry County’s unemployment fell 1.2 percentage points from October to November, data released by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity in December indicates.

Hendry County posted an 8.3 percent unemployment rate in November 2015, the lowest since April 2015. This month’s unemployment is also 1.7 percent lower than the same time one year ago.

Despite the lower rate, Hendry County still has the highest unemployment in the state of Florida, followed by Hardee County at 7.0 percent and Citrus and Highlands counties at 6.6 percent each.

The state average unemployment rate was 4.8 percent.
