Clewiston volleyball team defeats Glades Central

CLEWISTON – Mikalah Johnson had five kills and three blocks and Lauryn Varnum had seven kills to lead the Clewiston Tigers to a four set win over Glades Central in girls’ volleyball Aug. 31.

The Lady Tigers prevailed 25-12, 25-19, 22-25 and 25-17 to improve to (1-1) on the season.

Kayman Robinson had five kills and Kelsey Allison had eight aces and eight assists for Clewiston. Shakayla Hankins had seven aces and Megan Pittman added 20 digs for the Tigers.

Future matches for the Lady Tigers include matches with Moore Haven at home on Sept. 12 and Immokalee away on Sept. 19.

The junior varsity Lady Tigers recently lost on the road to Avon Park in a competitive match, 2 sets to one. Avon Park won the first game 25-8, Clewiston took the second 25-22, and Avon Park won the finale 15-4. Savannah Durrance had seven aces and four assists and Neaychma Fogle had seven aces for the Lady Red Devils, (2-0). Melinda Palacios had 10 digs for Avon Park.
