A 25-year-old West Palm Beach County resident is facing charges in connection with the death of a motorcyclist on State Road 80 on Sunday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Traffic investigators say Dayana Venerero, of West Palm Beach, allegedly caused the deadly accident after failing to yield the right of way to a Kawasaki motorcycle attempting to pass her on the roadway.
The accident was reported on Sunday, May 1, at approximately 12:21 p.m., near Hendry Isles Blvd. According to information released by FHP, both vehicles, a 2013 Chevrolet Spark, which is a smaller type car that was being driven by Ms. Venerero, and a Kawasaki ZX1000E motorcycle driven by Balwinder Mann, 36, of Boca Raton, were heading west on State Road 80 when the motorcycle attempted to pass the car. At that point, the driver of the car began turning left onto a private driveway on the south shoulder of State Road 80, causing the motorcycle to collide with the driver’s side of the car, according to Crash Investigator A. Rodriguez.
The impact of the crash caused the motorcycle to overturn. Mr. Mann was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries. According to the report, Mr. Mann was wearing his helmet when the crash occurred. Venerero, along with her two passengers, suffered no injuries from the wreck, and were wearing their seatbelts at the time. Investigators say alcohol did not play a role in the accident. Venerero faces a charge of failure to yield to vehicle passing on left when making left turn.
