Hendry County under Hurricane Watch

LABELLE — Hendry County is under a hurricane watch as of 11 a.m. Thursday, September 7.

The County is encouraging voluntary evacuations for residents residing in all low-lying areas. Voluntary evacuations are also encouraged for persons residing in non-slab built homes, mobile homes, trailers and R.V.’s.

Residents are strongly encouraged to make the decision today if they are going to evacuate.

Residents choosing to stay in their homes are reminded to ensure that they have all necessary provisions. This includes gallons of water per each member of the household, per day for three days and food for three days. Residents are also encouraged to ensure that all outside items are secured in the case of a major wind event.

Hendry County will continue to update residents as information becomes available. Residents are encouraged to call 2-1-1, Hendry County’s storm information hotline, for any information regarding Hurricane Irma.
