LTC Granville’s sister officiates at her promotion ceremony

CLEWISTON — Lieutenant Colonel Georgina “GeeGee” Granville’s promotion ceremony was held on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 3 p.m. at the Clewiston High School Auditorium in honor of her community that has supported, encouraged and prayed for her over the years.

Her sister, Lieutenant Colonel Cathy Granville-Scott, officiated the ceremony.

This was the first time the two sisters had ever worn the Army Service Uniform (Army’s formal attire) together; and they did so in the company of family and friends. There was not a dry eye as her older sister spoke on her dedication and how proud she was of her younger sister.

During the ceremony, GeeGee stated, “She knew that it was not by chance that she has made it this far in life and her career. It took the humble beginnings in a community in which we all came from to establish her foundation. Hence is why she desired to conduct her promotion ceremony to lieutenant colonel in Clewiston; for her family, community and to recognize some of the local veterans who have served our nation.”

She honored each veteran who was present with a plaque, which said, “Thank you for your service to our nation and community. We are forever grateful for the sacrifices. May God continue to bless and keep you.” We are so very proud of one of our Hometown Heroes.
