UPDATE: Investigators arrest second juvenile in LaBelle park shooting

UPDATE: Hendry County Investigators have continued to question and follow-up on all leads following the shooting of a 14 year old in LaBelle last week.

On Aug. 25, based on the results of their investigation, investigators arrested 15-year-old Eliceo Hernandez on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

UPDATE: The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the shooter as Fernando “Tito” Gonzalez.

The sheriff’s office reports the shooting took place at around 4:30 p.m. at a park near LaBelle Elementary School.

Original Report: The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office reports that investigators have arrested a 14-year-old male involved in the shooting of a juvenile at Jaycee Lions Park in LaBelle, yesterday, Aug. 17.

The 14 year old is reportedly being held in the Hendy County Jail for processing and will be transported to the Juvenile Detention Facility on charges of aggravated battery.

A second subject is also being interviewed at this time and additional arrests may be made in this case as investigators continue to follow up on information received, the sheriff’s office reports.

The victim remains in serious but stable condition.
