A 16 year old was arrested in connection with a double shooting that occurred in Harlem early last month.
Jathaniel Reggie Brooks was arrested by Hendry County deputies on Dec. 4 on outstanding charges of aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability.
Brooks is accused of shooting two 18 year olds near Harlem Gardens on Nov. 4, according to a press release issued by the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office.
The two 18-year-old victims, Hiram Simpson and Javaros Lee, were reportedly found lying on the ground by sheriff’s deputies as a large crowd gathered outside the Harlem Gardens apartments. Simpson was reportedly shot in the chest, while Lee was shot in the arm.
A warrant was issued for Brooks’ arrest on charges of attempted murder after he was reportedly identified as the shooter.
On Nov. 11, Brooks was located and arrested in Palm Beach County where he was held at the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Brooks was transported to Hendry County on Dec. 4 where he was arrested and charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability.
He was released the next day on $50,000 bond.
