A Boynton Beach man was arrested and charged with DUI following a car accident in front of Sonny’s BBQ Restaurant on Dec. 20.

Ronald Joseph McCuen, 57, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and property damage after Clewiston police officers responded to a call regarding a traffic accident.

At around 6 p.m., officers arrived in front of Sonny’s and spoke with a 20-year-old Royal Palm Beach man, who said McCuen came into his lane and hit is car, an arrest report released by the Clewiston Police Department states.

McCuen, who drove a blue Prius, reportedly told police he swerved to avoid hitting another car which had stopped suddenly in his lane.  But as officers spoke with McCuen, they reportedly noticed him swaying in place and said they could smell alcohol on his breath.

McCuen was asked to perform a field sobriety test after which he was arrested and charged with DUI, according to the report. McCuen was booked in the Hendry County Jail and released the same day on $2,500 bond.
