Florida Highway Patrol trooper involved in Clewiston car accident

A Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) officer was involved in an accident this past Sunday in Clewiston, when he allegedly made a left-hand turn into an on-coming car.

According to information released by FHP, 53-year-old trooper Travis Parks was stopped in his marked patrol vehicle in the left-hand-turn lane on U.S. 27, set to turn into a parking lot near McDonalds.

A 26-year-old man from Clewiston was driving westbound on U.S. 27 when the trooper reportedly pulled out and collided with the left side of the on-coming car.

Both vehicles came to a controlled stop and no injuries were reported, according to FHP.

It is unclear at this time whether any citations were issued.
