A Hialeah man was killed in an accident in Montura Ranch over the weekend, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports.
The accident occurred at around 3:24 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8 at the intersection of N. Mayoral Street and Bald Cypress Avenue in Montura Ranch.
According to a report released by FHP, 72-year-old Pastor Montpeller was killed when his 2002 Toyota Tacoma was hit by a 2014 Ford Mustang. The driver of the Mustang, 30-year-old Dustin Elirobert Hall, of Clewiston, was traveling south on N. Mayoral Street and reportedly failed to stop at the stop sign at Bald Cypress Avenue.
As a result, the Mustang’s front end reportedly collided with the left side of the Toyota Tacoma, causing the truck to flip and land upside down in the intersection.
Montpeller was pronounced deceased on the scene. Hall reportedly suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to Hendry Regional Medical Center.
Three other passengers inside the Mustang, including 24-year-old Christian Rivera, nine-year-old Wilson Rivera and 13-year-old Lizzy Rivera, all of Clewiston, were also transported to Hendry Regional with minor injuries, according to the report.
Both drivers and all three passengers were reportedly wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. It is unclear at this time whether or not alcohol played a role in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
