A Clewiston man is accused of stealing over $20,000 worth of trailers and tools from a job site in Glades County, the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Reisel Rodriguez, 37, was arrested on Nov. 16 and charged with three counts grand theft after sheriff’s deputies received a call from the reported owner of three stolen trailers.
The owner, Jay Stewart, said he spotted two of his missing trailers in a yard in Montura Ranch after scouring the area in an airplane, according to an arrest report released by the sheriff’s office.
Deputies responded to the home on Avenida del Sur and South Cabbage Palm with the reported owner.
The two trailers located on the property — a 14-foot dump trailer and a 20-foot flatbed Tropic trailer — were reportedly registered to Stewart and reported stolen out of Glades County.
Stewart also located several items that were taken from the bed of the third stolen trailer, including tile and grout and a tile saw, according to the report.
The 14-foot trailer was valued at $8,000 and the 20-foot trailer was valued at $7,000.
Stewart also reportedly identified about $8,000 worth of tools.
Deputies noted in the report that the hitch on Rodriguez’s truck was a Pintle hitch, the kind needed to haul Stewart’s trailers.
Deputies also located a green Polaris Ranger in the yard that was reported stolen two days earlier from Riverbend Resort on State Road 80 near LaBelle, according to the report.
A search warrant was obtained so deputies could search inside the home, where they reportedly found more tools belonging to Stewart.
Rodriguez was arrested and charged with three counts grand theft.
He was taken to the Hendry County Jail where he remains in custody on $75,000 bond.
