A man was accused of breaking into two cabinets at the Tiki Bar and carrying off six bottles of liquor earlier this month.

Fernando Mendoza, 34, of Clewiston, was arrested and charged with burglary and larceny after he was identified in a surveillance video breaking into cabinets and stealing several bottles of liquor, an arrest report released by the Clewiston Police Department states.

Bar Manager Laura Pavey reportedly came into work Dec. 3 and noticed two locks had been broken and two handles were missing from liquor cabinets at the bar.

She reviewed surveillance video and saw that at 3:01 a.m. a man entered the bar, took several shots of fireball whiskey from a dispenser on the counter and proceeded to break into the cabinets, the report states.

The man, later identified as Mendoza, allegedly took six bottles, including Jack Daniels Fireball, Barcardi Anejo, Nassau Royale, Black Magic Rum and Captain Morgan, before leaving on foot.

Pavey estimated the total damages, profit loss and stolen items to be about $943. She notified police of the break-in on Dec. 7 and officers arrested Mendoza later that day.

Mendoza was charged with burglary to an unoccupied dwelling and larceny, theft is $300 or more but less than $5,000. He remains in custody at the Hendry County Jail on $5,000 bond.
