The Clewiston Police Department has arrested a Clewiston man for the murder of Miami taxi driver, Mohammad Ansari.

Joe, “G.I.” McCray, 46, of Clewiston, was arrested and charged with murder, robbery with a firearm, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, according to a press release issued by the Clewiston Police Department.

McCray was arrested in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 3.

Detectives with the Clewiston Police Department reportedly logged roughly 360 man hours since Ansari was found in the parking lot in front of Hibbett Sports in Clewiston Saturday, Sept. 26.

The investigation took detectives as far south as Miami and as far north as Seminole County and, according to the release, McCray’s is the first of more arrests to come as the investigation continues.

Ansari was a married father of five. Detectives reportedly worked closely with his family during the investigation.

The investigation is still ongoing and the department is asking anyone with more information about the murder of Mohammad Ansari to call the Clewiston Police Department at 863-983-1474.
