Teen steals car from business’ lot

A 19 year old landed in jail after reportedly stealing a BMW from an auto repair shop on Nov. 11.

Lane Tyler Elkins Graham, of Clewiston, was arrested and charged with burglary, felony larceny and criminal mischief after allegedly stealing a silver BMW sedan from Rivera Transmissions, according to an arrest report released by the Clewiston Police Department.

Graham was reportedly stopped by officers at around 4:36 a.m. on Nov. 11 for driving without headlights. When officers ran the tag attached to the BMW, it allegedly came back as belonging to a gold Jaguar.

Officers contacted the owner listed on the vehicle registration, 38-year-old Jaime Rivera, who said the car should be secured at his business, Rivera’s Transmissions, according to the report.

An officer went to inspect the business and reportedly noticed the front gate had been demolished. The front of the BMW apparently had significant damage as if it had been used to ram the gate open.

The BMW was valued at approximately $4,000.

It is reported officers also found various retail rolls of snuff, containing about 14 cans in total, in a backpack on the backseat of the BMW. The snuff apparently matched the description of products reported stolen from G.R.’s Gas Station on Nov. 9.

Graham was arrested and charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling; larceny, theft is more than $300 but less than $5,000; criminal mischief; and attaching license plate not assigned.

Graham is currently being held in the Hendry County Jail on a more than $24,000 bond.
