Three people were killed and another seriously injured in an accident on County Road 835 over the weekend, Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Arnold Cypress, 41, Nichole Billie, 45, and Damascus Cypress, 6, all of Clewiston, were killed Saturday, Jan. 9 when their car overturned on C.R. 835 near Rogers Road, an accident report released by highway patrol indicates.
A seven-year-old boy was also seriously injured in the accident.
According to the report, the four were traveling south on C.R. 835 in a 2009 Volkswagon at a high rate of speed. The driver reportedly lost control of the car as they approached the curve at Rogers Road causing the car to rotate sideways and vault across a 75-foot water-filled canal. The car reportedly struck the south side of the canal embankment and overturned several times before coming to a final rest. All of the occupants were ejected from the car.
A passing motorist reportedly discovered the car, so it is unclear at what time the accident happened. It is also unclear who was driving at the time of the accident.
The seven-year-old boy was taken to Tampa General hospital in serious condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
