Motorcycle crash claims life of Cape Coral man

A 32-year-old Cape Coral man died from injuries sustained in a single motorcycle crash on S.R. 80 in Hendry County on Thursday, June 7.

A Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) press release stated that at approximately 7:45 p.m. a 2006 Honda motorcycle operated by Manuel Rangel, 32, of Cape Coral was traveling east on S.R. 80.

The motorcycle attempted to negotiate a curve to the left in the road way. He ran off the roadway onto the right shoulder. The front right corner of the vehicle struck the guardrail located on the south shoulder of S.R. 80. Mr. Rangel was separated from his motorcycle and thrown into the canal south of S.R. 80. The motorcycle came to a final rest on the south shoulder of S.R. 80 facing south.

Mr. Rangel was reported to have sustained injuries that were fatal on the scene.

Trooper Justin Sanchez, Crash Investigator, and Corporal James Harris, Homicide Investigator, were the investigating officers.
