Two ejected from SUV after vehicle overturns on C.R. 833 near Clewiston

A Clewiston man is in serious condition after the SUV he was riding in overturned several times on County Road 833 New Year’s morning, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported.

The accident occurred at around 9:22 a.m. on Jan. 1.

Cedrick Isaiah Brown, 19, of Clewiston, was riding in a 2013 Cadillac Escalade when the driver, Tampa resident Dannee Gene Billie, 21, lost control of the SUV, according to an accident report released by FHP.

The report indicates that the driver overcorrected when the SUV went partially onto the east grassy shoulder while driving northbound on C.R. 833 near C.R. 835. As a result, the SUV began traveling across both lanes of the roadway before striking a barbed-wire fence on the west grassy shoulder.

The SUV reportedly overturned several times and came to a final stop in a field west of C.R. 833.

Both Brown and Billie were ejected from the SUV. Billie was flown by Air Rescue to Broward North General and is reportedly in critical condition.

Brown was transported to Kendal Trauma Center and is reportedly in serious but stable condition.

According to the report, alcohol did not play a role in the accident. Neither Billie nor Brown were reportedly wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
