Two shot near Harlem Gardens

The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a double shooting near Harlem Gardens last Wednesday, Nov. 4.

The incident occurred at around 7:40 p.m.

The names of the victim’s have not been released and no arrests have been made as of press time.

According to a report released by the sheriff’s office on Nov. 11, deputies heard four gun shots in the area of Harlem Gardens while responding to another call in the area.

As deputies ran towards the shots, they reportedly heard four more gun shots. Deputies arrived at the 700 block of Harlem Gardens and saw a boy lying on the ground wearing an orange shirt soaked in blood.

A large crowd of about 40 to 50 people reportedly gathered outside near the victim and his distraught mother was held back from seeing her son by sheriff’s deputies.

As more deputies began arriving on scene, another victim was found in a field between apartments near the 900 block of Harlem Gardens.

Both victims were transported by Hendry County EMS to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.
