Woman found dead inside car in canal

An SUV was discovered overturned in a Montura canal Sunday afternoon with the driver submerged inside.

According to a report released by Florida Highway Patrol, the SUV was driving northbound on North Riverside Drive at an unknown time during the evening of Aug. 15.

For reasons that remain unknown, the SUV reportedly drove off the roadway and overturned into a canal near Horse Club Avenue.

The SUV was found at 1:26 p.m. on Aug. 16 with the driver, Tamara Frederick, 62, of Clewiston, submerged inside. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to the report, Frederick was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. It is also unknown at this time whether or not alcohol played a role in the accident.
