Youth died in LaBelle traffic crash

LaBELLE — A 12-year-old boy died from injuries received in a Jan. 6 traffic crash.

A Florida Highway Patrol press release stated that at 4:02 p.m. Sunday, a 1999 Freightliner operated by Jaime Oliveros, 48, of LaBelle was traveling east on Evans Road approaching the intersection Fussell Grade Road.

Noah Alvardo, 12, was riding a kneeboard in the westbound lane of Evans Road. Noah entered the eastbound lane, into the path of the Freightliner.

The driver attempted to veer right but the vehicle struck Noah.

As a result, the Freightliner traveled off the roadway, striking a ditch and a barbed-wire fence.

The boy was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash was still under investigation at the time of the press release.
