CLEWISTON — At inception, Clewiston Christian School (CCS), then a K-6 program, had a distinct mission, to maintain academic excellence. Now, 12 years and 6 grade levels later, their mission remains. CCS, currently a K-12 institution, continues to push students to strive for excellence with the implementation of Advanced Placement (AP), honors, duel enrollment courses and access to vocational programs in addition to the general course load offerings. All on campus courses are taught by certified teachers who share the vision of CCS, “engaging the mind, nurturing the spirit, and transforming the world for the glory of God.”
New this year, CCS is offering five AP courses, six honors courses and two duel enrollment opportunities per semester.
“We are thrilled to be in a position to offer our students these advanced courses” said Lori Duckstein, CCS administrator 7-12. “Our students now have the option of earning college credits while enrolled with us.”
Their intent is to nurture and grow the whole child, while the primary goal at CCS remains college readiness, they are excited that some students have chosen to participate in a career/technical welding program though the Clewiston Adult Center.
CCS attributes its growth to several factors, one being its rigorous coarse load. George Duckstein the school’s head administrator says that he is reminded daily of a quote by Aristotle, “Excellence, excellence as an art is won by training and habituation, excellence in what we repeatedly do, excellence, not as an act but as a habit.” His hope is to instill a habit of excellence in each student that walks the halls of CCS. “Excellence is our goal in all endeavors” says George.
