CHS golfer starts season by hitting hole in one

The Clewiston Tiger golf team has high hopes again this year.

Mike Kemp has been the boy’s coach for 15 years. He got to see something he’d never seen before last Friday, Sept. 23, when one of his players hit a hole in one.

The historic shot was struck by Seth Walker, who hit the hole in one on the fifth hole at the Key West Golf Club. The senior hit the shot on the par three hole which measures 139 yards.

“He was pretty excited,” Kemp said, “It is the first time I’ve ever seen something like that.”

The Tigers are off to a solid start at (3-1). They have defeated LaBelle twice and Moore Haven and lost to Key West so far this year.

Kemp said he feels the kids are working hard this year and have a chance to accomplish some goals.

“We have a pretty decent little team this year. The guys have a real good attitude and encourage each other to get better.”

Clewiston plays in a tough district with teams like Jensen Beach, Okeechobee, Sebastian River, and Fort Pierce Westwood.

Kemp said he thinks the boys will do their best throughout the year and he’d like to see them get some recognition.

Team members include Seth Walker, Michael Kurtz, Bradley Bellow, Haden Redish, Jarrett Carmona, Reed Martin, Kale Knaack and Christopher Sanders.

The Lady Tiger roster includes Skylar Duckstein, Kyra Chute, Carlie Lawson, Cassandra Whitehead, Nyla Chute and Jessica Sulzer. They are coached by Terry Crawford.
