Clewiston girls’ basketball team wins in a close game

The Clewiston Lady Tigers defeated Immokalee 57-53 to open the regular season on a positive note Monday, Nov. 14.

The Tigers were led by Shakayla Hankins with 31 points and Kayman Robinson who added 11 points.

“The first half was amazing,” Coach Alisha Bradberry said, “It was a true team effort.”

The Tigers took an early lead and appeared headed for an easy victory. That was not the case as the Lady Indians fought back to make it a game.

“The second half we veered away from the game plan a little and we got into some foul trouble,” Bradberry added.

Robinson went to the bench with foul trouble and picked up her fifth foul in the third quarter. “I think that caused the game to be a lot closer.”

Freshman Alaysha Johnson came off the bench and did a good job filling in for Robinson.

The Tigers have a huge district game on Friday, Nov. 18, when they host Lincoln Park Academy at 7 p.m.
