Clewiston high school cross country team competes at Estero Invite

CLEWISTON — The Clewiston boys cross country team fared well as they competed in the fourth annual DDD Sommer Invitational at Estero Community Park in Estero last Saturday, Sept. 3.

The varsity boys finished 26th out of 36 schools. Highlights included Troy Evans who finished in 21:03 to get 83rd place and D.J. Adams who finished in 22:06 to finish 118th. The race winner was Joshua Collins of Belen Jesuit, which also took the team championship.

The girls varsity was led by Katelyn Bryant who finished in 63rd position in a time of 25:06, Elena Gonzales who finished 132nd with a time of 29:32, Guadalupe Duran-Almaris who finished in 144th place with a time of 30:10 and Jaylynn Moreno who finished in 30:49 and 150th place.

Others Lady Tigers who finished included Ciara Iglesias who finished in 34;09, 178th place. The race winner was Tsion Yared of Pine Crest School who finished in 20:26. Clewiston finished 21st out of 24 schools. Pine Crest was the girl’s varsity champion this year.

The boy’s junior varsity team finished eighth among 29 teams in the JV race. Caleb Boyer finished 51st at 22:54, Juan Moran 60th place in 23:20 and Noah McCray 72nd at 23:48.
