The Panthers have had a rough season, (1-5) and have not scored a point in two district games. They have been outscored in District play, 127-0.
The Panthers, coached by Kadian Bell, even tried the single wing formation vs Glades Central in an attempt to get their offense going. They started the season with a 28-24 win vs Aukela Christian Military Academy, and have followed up with five consecutive defeats, Gulliver Prep 56-6, Cornerstone Charter Academy 12-6, University 72-0, Champagnat Catholic 55-0 and Glades Central 55-0.
Key players for the Panthers include Christian Fernandez, defensive tackle Vashon Bailey, Joseph Lancia and Zamar Miller.
For Clewiston every district game is important. They are (3-2) overall but in a good spot in districts (1-0) after their win over University of Fort Lauderdale. The game with Miami Pace was cancelled Friday, Oct. 7, due to the hurricane.
Clewiston is getting healthier and the extra week off should be a boost to the team.
The Tigers continue to be led by quarterback Menta Jones, a stout and aggressive defense, and a solid running game led by Trayquan Williams.
The game is played Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. at Somerset Academy located at 20803 Johnson Street in Pembroke Pines. There is a charge for admission and parking.
