CLEWISTON – Clewiston continued their dominance over LaBelle with a splendid defensive performance Friday, Aug. 26, in a 28-0 victory at Cane Field.

The Tigers got a solid run game from Trayquan Williams who had touchdown runs of 40 yards and two yards. QB Donny Creagh also threw a touchdown pass for the Tigers. Wilford McLeod opened some holes with crushing blocks on the offensive line and the Tigers played solid team defense and tackled well.

This week’s opponent, the Immokalee Indians, were also tough on defense in week one as they defeated Golden Gate, 38-7. They held Golden Gate to 31 yards in the air and 175 yards on the ground. The Indians are coached by Rodelin Anthony, who made his coaching debut last week for Immokalee. The Indians come off a (6-6) season in 2015. They play in District 5A-12.

Key players for the Indians include running back Fred Green who rushed for 668 yards last year and nine touchdowns. Green averaged 6.2 yards per rush. Malcolm Jackson also provided a boost in the run game with 574 yards and six touchdowns. Wide receiver Jean Sanon is the top returning receiver as he caught nine passes, but three of them for touchdowns last year. The Indian defense is led by Joel Marcano who had 101 tackles last year, and Jevon Thomas who added 79 tackles which include six behind the line of scrimmage. Clauderson Louissaint is also a top defender as he had 67 stops and 4.5 tackles for loss last year. He forced a fumble last week for the Indian defense.

The kickoff Friday is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Immokalee High at 701 Immokalee Drive.
