Clewiston travels to Okeechobee in last game of season

Clewiston will take the road again this week as they close out the 2015 season against the Okeechobee Brahmans. It will be the 58th meeting in this long time rivalry, with Clewiston holding a huge advantage at 46 wins, 10 losses and a tie. Game time is 7 p.m.

The Tigers and Brahmans will both be aiming for the same outcome by trying to end their season with a 5-5 record. Okeechobee, like the Tigers, has been eliminated from post season play.

In their quest to avoid a losing year, the Tigers will have to bring their A game. The Brahmans never go quietly when facing Clewiston. Okeechobee runs a power-I offense, with an occasional spread formation, much like the Tigers. Tailback Lamar Williams is their primary rusher and has good size and speed and can be hard to bring down.

The Tiger offense will be hoping for some of their early season spark and consistency on offense. Sophomore tailback Menta’ Jones should provide some offensive yards and look for the Tiger passing game to have a much better night than the past few games.

When looking at the season long statistics, the Tigers have outrushed the opposition by 600 yards, less than 100 yards behind in passing, and have outscored them by 100 points. Clewiston also has 20 more first downs and is plus 9 in takeaways. But somehow, that translates into a 4-5 season going into this final game.
