Cross country team competes in North Port Invitational


The Tiger cross country teams competed Saturday, Sept. 24, in the North Port Cross Country Invitational.

The boys team finished 15th out of 28 schools while the girls team finished 21st out of 24 schools.

Highlights for the Lady Tigers included Katelyn Bryant who finished 26th overall with a time of 22:13.60.

Selena Gonzales finished in 27:34.60 claiming 136th place. Other finishers for Clewiston included Jaylynn Moreno 29:11.80, Ciara Iglesias 30:41.20, Madisyn Thomley 32:26.70, and Maritza Valdez at 32:31.40. The race was won by Raquel Lespasio of Manatee High in a time of 19:48. Cape Coral was the team champion.

The Tiger boy’s squad was paced by Troy Evans who finished the five kilometer course in 19:28.50 to finish in 55th place. DJ Adams finished in 19:35.40 claiming 63rd place. Other finishers for Clewiston included Marco Figueroa in 20:53, Caleb Boyer in 21:09, Jose Rios in 21:15, Joel McCray in 22:17, Juan Moran in 22:31, Noah McCray in 23:47, Dagan Holloway in 24:41, and Marcel Diaz in 26:18.

The race was claimed by Colin Boutin of Bloomingdale in less than 16 minutes. Bloomingdale also took the team championship.
