Special to The Clewiston News.   Clewiston High School girls soccer team seniors were honored and presented with a picture collage with frame and personalized posters with messages from their teammates. Seniors pictured are Ashley Roth, Kelsey Allison, Carley Morrell, Alexis Rubio, Courtney Blanset, Guadalupe Ruiz, Guadalupe Duran-Almaras, Zenyda Soriano and Maria Garcia.

• The Clewiston High School Tigers boys’ basketball team lost to Glades Central 72-63 on Jan. 13 in Clewiston.

Klamenta Jones had 21 points and Jadan Thompson added 10 points. LaRonta Turner, Jadan Bryan and Justin Eaves had six points apiece. Jones was the top rebounder with six. Eaves and Thompson pulled down five rebounds. Jones had six assists and Bryan dished out four assists.

Coach Tim Carter said the Tigers had a number of free throw attempts but didn’t hit enough of them. He said they also had problems with turnovers against the Raiders.

Dagan Holloway had six points for Clewiston.

The boys basketball also lost at Lincoln Park in Ft. Pierce on Jan. 17, 56-47. Holloway led the Tigers with 11 points and Jones added 10 points. Bryan had seven points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Tyren Richardson had five points and five rebounds.

Coach Carter said the team suffers from a lack of focus and a low shooting percentage.

• The Lady Tigers soccer team celebrated senior night with a victory over Lake Worth Christian 3-0 on Jan. 12. Kelsey Allison had all three goals for the Tigers. Goal keeper Ashley Roth finished her home career with a shutout in net.

“Overall the ladies played well as a team and were ready to take on their district opponents,” Coach Keri Alford said. Nine seniors will graduate from the team this year. All of them were honored before the match. Each Lady Tiger received a picture collage with frame and personalized posters with messages from their teammates. Seniors honored included Ashley Roth, Kelsey Allison, Carley Morrell, Alexis Rubio, Courtney Blanset, Guadalupe Ruiz, Guadalupe Duran-Almaras, Zenyda Soriano and Maria Garcia.

All of these young ladies played four years and were involved with several extracurricular activities at school and other sports while maintaining high grade point averages, Coach Alford noted.

• The Lady Tigers basketball team lost a key district game Jan. 20 when they fell to Lincoln Park 64-27 in Ft. Pierce. The Lady Greyhounds knocked down 11 three point baskets in the game. They jumped out to an early 22-9 lead and were never threatened. Shakayla Hankins had 11 points and Kayman Robinson added eight points for Clewiston. LPA is (15-3) this year.
