The Tigers travel to play an old rival Glades Central but things have slightly changed. Unlike all the previous 45 meetings, this time the Tigers and the Raiders are in the same district.
So, there’s a lot more to this game than the Glades-wide bragging rights that automatically go to the winner.
A win by favored Glades Central will make them District 4A-7 champs with a perfect 3-0 district record. A Tiger upset would give the Tigers, Raiders and University High all 2-1 district records and a three-way shootout, likely on Nov. 9, would be required to determine which two teams proceed to the post-season games.
Clewiston, 4-4 on the year, will have their hands full against the Raiders. At 6-2 overall, Glades Central has whipped some tough opponents and shown a potent offense that is further complimented by a stout defense. The Tigers need to find the offensive prowess they exhibited earlier in the year and control the ball with some long scoring drives.
Key to the game will be the ability of the Tiger rushing attack, led by Menta’ Jones, to make some headway. Then Clewiston will need timely passing from quarterback Davis Witt and catches by his speediest receivers Reginald Henderson and Tyrin Summers.
Kickoff will be at 7:30 pm at Dr. Effie Grear Stadium.
