Army Corps warns boaters of low water levels between Clewiston and Port Maycaca

Due to low lake levels, the Army Corps of Engineers is urging commercial and recreational boaters to use caution when traveling on Lake Okeechobee between Port Mayaca and Clewiston.

Water Management to relocate dike bridge

South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) met with Clewiston City Commissioners to announce updates on a project that has been on the city’s wish list for several years. The S-169 structure, which provides both flood protection to the city and water supply to area agricultural fields, is well past its life expectancy. The city has talked with the district previously about relocating the structure further west, and with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers working nearby on the dike, the project has been kicked back into motion.

Clewiston-native Scott Martin wins FLW’s Angler of Year

Local pro fisherman Scott Martin won Fishing League Worldwide’s coveted Angler of the Year award, accumulating the most points throughout the 2015 season. Upon finishing the last of six Walmart FLW tour events this year, Martin knew he had won the title he had been working towards all season.
